In complex conservation projects, a conservator may be asked to study and integrate the different areas of expertise, as also reflected on this platform. The conservator can act as project manager, coordinating collaboration between the various parties involved. Knowledge of making processes and deterioration phenomena, the artwork’s historical and art-historical context and state-of-the-art treatment options, including preventive measures, enables the conservator to provide specialist advice. The conservator can assess, integrate and carry out technical analysis of materials and research into potential conservation treatments.
