P. M. Cochius (1874–1938) joined Leerdam Glass Factory (Glasfabriek Leerdam) in 1895. As director, he began commissioning artists in 1915 to design both utilitarian and decorative glass. That year, he appointed De Bazel to create glasses and vases that could be produced in large quantities while retaining a refined design. De Bazel designed a number of glassware services, including Servies F.
In 1958, Bert Haanstra made a film about Leerdam Glass Factory and the industrialisation of glass production in the 20th century.
